The summer of 2011 hasn't been the most sunny summer. Throughout Europe it has been wet, cold and even more wet. But creativity can't be stopped and neither can 'De Parade'. HUB Footwear spend the summer connecting with artists from Rotterdam, The Hague, Utrecht and Amsterdam to celebrate good times and creativity at the biggest outdoor theater festival of The Netherlands.
A total of seven artists were invited to visualize their hub from their city on a picnic table. Rotterdam was represented by Saskia Haex and Bruce TMC. The Hague saw the art collective Mister Three and Utrecht showcased artists Gino Hoiting and Teo Skaffa. Last but not least Lennard Schuurmans and Pieter Frank de Jong represented Amsterdam.
With the use of markers, acrylics and pens the artists went to work. The festival atmosphere was perfect for interaction with the very curious crowd, consisting of local hipsters, family's and children. Each picnic table has a unique style but all tables are recognizable by the iconic Z stitch from HUB, which stands for the connection between people and places.
This weekend is your last chance to see all the painted picnic tables, while enjoying your glass of wine. The weather forecast predicts a sunny weekend, so there is no excuse not to be here. Sunday the 21st of august is your final chance, if you don't want to wait for next year.
If you don't have the opportunity to come down this weekend, you might want to take a look at this short film which was made during the first two stops of 'De Parade' in Rotterdam and Den Haag, and catches the summer vibes in a not so sunny summer.
